Lightning Modules removes the risk from commissioning new digital learning. Tell us what your people need to be able to do, and we’ll rapidly develop a professionally designed learning module around that requirement — at our cost. You’ll see the finished learning before you decide whether to buy it. If you don’t want it, you pay nothing.
Give us a short brief. Tell us who the learning is for, what you need people to be able to do differently or correctly afterwards, and what would demonstrate that they’ve learnt it. You can also provide up to two source documents. You don’t need to design the course, develop learning objectives or specify the content and interactions — that’s our job.
We use AI-enabled development processes to draw on relevant, authoritative information, your source material and Synapsys’ own learning-design expertise and IP. From this, we rapidly create an applied, focused learning module built around what your people actually need to be able to do — rather than simply covering a list of topics. When it’s ready, we give you secure access to the finished module so you can experience exactly what your people would receive.
If it’s not right for you, simply say no — there’s nothing to pay. If you want it, own it for NZ$2,000 + GST, including the finished module, deployable package and editable source files, or have Synapsys keep it current for NZ$900 + GST per year for three years, with unlimited internal learners and applicable standard updates. Once you’ve committed to the module, we can also scope any organisation-specific customisation you need.

A Lightning Module is designed to provide around 10–15 minutes of focused learning. It is delivered as a SCORM package that can be loaded into your LMS and includes appropriate interactive learning functionality and assessment.
Lightning Modules do not include video. Keeping the format focused allows us to develop high-quality, applied learning rapidly and keep the service at its standard price.
That’s not a problem. If we review your brief and believe there is too much material to cover effectively in a 10–15 minute module, we’ll come back to you before we start development.
We’ll explain how we recommend dividing the requirement into two or more right-sized modules. You can then decide whether you want us to proceed on that basis. We won’t simply squeeze too much content into a single module or surprise you with additional modules afterwards.
You can provide up to two source documents with your brief. These might include a policy, procedure, guidance document or other authoritative source that helps us understand your requirement.
You don’t need to assemble a comprehensive content pack. Tell us what your people need to be able to do and give us the most useful source material you have. We take it from there.
Yes. AI-enabled processes are one of the things that allow us to develop Lightning Modules rapidly and economically. We combine these tools with relevant authoritative information, the material you provide, and Synapsys’ learning-design expertise and IP.
We use paid commercial AI services with protections for business data rather than relying on free consumer AI services. Where reasonably practicable, we use services under which information submitted is not used by the provider to train its general-purpose AI models by default.
As with any cloud-based technology, we don’t claim that using AI is completely free from security or confidentiality risk. We take reasonable measures to protect the information you give us and recommend that you only provide information necessary to develop the module and which you’re authorised to share.

Tell us who the learning is for, what people need to be able to do differently or correctly afterwards, what would demonstrate that they’ve learnt it, and the important subject matter that needs to be addressed.
You don’t need to write learning objectives, design interactions, create assessments or tell us how to structure the module. That’s our job.
We’ll review your requirement first to make sure it’s suitable for the Lightning Modules service. If the scope is too large or needs clarification, we’ll contact you before proceeding.
If we accept it, we’ll develop the module at our risk. When it’s finished, we’ll give you secure access to experience the module and decide whether you want it.
No. There is no charge for submitting a brief, and submitting one doesn’t commit you to buying anything.
If we accept your brief, we take the development risk. You make your purchasing decision when you’ve seen the finished module.
You don’t buy it.
There is nothing to pay if you decide the completed module isn’t right for you. That’s one of the fundamental differences between Lightning Modules and conventional bespoke learning development.
Because we’re taking the development risk, however, Lightning Modules aren’t developed through the usual iterative bespoke process of customer storyboards, interim approvals and speculative revisions.

The service works because we develop a finished module at our risk and let you decide whether you want it. It isn’t a free bespoke-development or prototyping service.
If you like the module and want to proceed, we can then discuss any organisation-specific customisation you require and scope that work separately.
If you want the finished module, you have two options:
Own it for NZ$2,000 + GST. You receive the finished module, deployable SCORM package and editable source files.
Alternatively, have Synapsys keep it current for NZ$900 + GST per year for three years, with unlimited internal learners and applicable standard updates.
There is no limit on the number of learners within your organisation.
The module is for your organisation’s internal training and can be made available to employees and other people working directly within or for your organisation, such as contractors or secondees.
It can’t be resold, commercially distributed, provided as a training product to other organisations or used to generate training revenue unless we’ve specifically agreed otherwise in writing.
When you purchase a module outright, you receive the module, its deployable package and applicable editable source files, together with the right to use it indefinitely for your organisation’s internal learning.
Synapsys retains ownership of its underlying methodologies, learning-design approaches, templates, tools, techniques, reusable components and pre-existing IP. Receiving editable source files doesn’t transfer ownership of that underlying Synapsys IP or give you the right to use it to create products or services for third parties.
Yes. You can provide relevant source material as part of your brief.
Bear in mind that the initial Lightning Module is developed before you’ve committed to buying it. If you subsequently want more extensive organisation-specific content, terminology, branding, scenarios or other customisation, we can scope that separately once you’ve decided to proceed.
Once we give you access to the finished module, you have seven days to review it and decide whether you want to purchase or license it, unless we agree otherwise with you.
If you’ve purchased the module outright, you’re responsible for determining whether its content remains current and appropriate for your organisation.
Alternatively, you can choose the option where Synapsys keeps the module current, subject to the applicable update arrangements. This can be particularly useful for learning dealing with legislation, regulation, standards or other requirements that change over time.
No. Lightning Modules are learning and training products. They aren’t a substitute for legal, regulatory, financial, health and safety or other specialist professional advice.
We take reasonable care in developing the content, but your organisation remains responsible for deciding whether it is accurate, current and appropriate for your circumstances before deploying it.
Not necessarily. Lightning Modules work best for focused learning requirements with a clear workplace outcome.
We review every brief before deciding whether to proceed. If we consider the subject matter or material inappropriate for the Lightning Modules service, we may decline to develop it. We may also decline a brief if we don’t think the requirement is suitable for the service or can be effectively addressed through the Lightning Modules model.
You don't need to write a detailed course specification. Just give us enough information to understand your people, the outcome you're looking for and the learning you want us to address.
