In early 2025, the Racing Integrity Board (RIB) partnered with Synapsys to design and deliver a clear development pathway for incoming and progressing stewards. The partnership focused on building a structured, competency-based programme that strengthens capability, consistency, and leadership across the stewarding workforce.
As a result of this work, the RIB has established a modern framework for steward development that recognises experience and responsibility and creates a stronger pipeline for future stewarding leadership.
The programme is built on defined technical and behavioural competencies, supported by fair and consistent assessment and feedback. This approach strengthens capability, supports transparent progression decisions, and builds confidence in steward development. A senior member of the RIB stewarding team will shortly present this work at the International Stewards’ Conference in Saudi Arabia, sharing the programme and its practical application with peers from other jurisdictions.
